    GS1100g exhaust on my '79 GS1000e?

I need a new exhaust system for the '79 GS1000e I just picked up, and found a guy that is parting out a GS1100g. Don't know the year of the bike. Might the exhaust be a direct bolt-on? Don't really want to do any mods, because it will be temporary while I search for a 4 into 1 system. It's dirt cheap, so I may go with it if it bolts on. Thanks!

    Yes, it bolts right on

You'll notice it's slightly different than your stocker, it takes a GS rider to notice

    Go buy it

Not a straight bolt on since the rear mounts are different. I suspect it could be made to fit though.

Guess I need to just go look at it. The 150 mile round trip wouldn't be bad if I could do it on the bike, but I can't carry it home on the bike. Funny thing, though. I once took a 425 mike bike trip to buy a $25 tour pack mount for my HD. Hope I don't forget my tape measure.

            Hey Todd,

Good to know this, both my 78 and my 80 1000's need exhaust system replacements.
