float bowl leaking from drain plug 85 550 ef

The thread is stripped..the previous owner did this and I have gotten away with reoving the drain plug and using teflon tape for a long time.

Not working anymore. What best way to fix it? Or does anyone have a float bowl they want to sell?

Hi,

Picking up a new float bowl would be the ideal. You could also tap a slightly larger drain screw in there.

I did the latter until i managed to get a spare set of carbs to permit me to do the former, all quite easy.

If I can get the bowl off without removing carbs I will be happy

I'm sure it's possible. Ihad to use a screw driver with a right angle & a socket head in it to remove mine (this is exactly what i had to use), but it required a bit of mucking about to get it happening.
