    Header Pipes Question

    Gday folks,

Im struggling to find a set of header pipes for my GSX250 and dont really want to pay the $650+ i was quoted for a set of 2 into 1's custom made. I have however found a set off a GSX400 twin of the same age as my bike. I know the vast majority of parts are the same between the two bikes, but can anyone tell me if the headers are going to fit?

    Cheers

I haven't seen a 250 up close in person to know for sure, but I suspect they would fit.

If my 450 was here I'd measure the holes for you, but unfortunately it's residing at Tranzac for the present time until my exhaust is finished...

Where did you get the custom quote from?

You can try Tranzac as he may have a jig already set to go for the 250, but you can also try Motorcycle Exhaust Professionals as they used to import Motad exhausts.

There's also Pipemasters at Albion I believe, and you might also try Albion Bike Wreckers to see if he has an old set there, pretty much the only wrecker left in Brissie from what I can tell. There's also Tiaro motorcycle wreckers out west somewhere...

      Cheers Pete,

I got the quote from motorcycle exhaust professionals, and also from a joint in Geebung, which was around a similar price. I was hoping somewhere would have a jig but of the places I emailed nobody seemed like they could knock up a set easily.

Tiaro wreckers is where I found the 2 into 1 pipes, I might just buy em and if they don't fit flip them on ebay. I don't think there will be many issues with it fitting though, just wanted to check if anybody knew for sure if they would or wouldn't.

      Cheers

        Ok cool.

You'll only get Tranzac by 'phone, the guy told me he's "not real good with that email stuff"...

If they're not too expensive, I'd probably give the 400 pipes a shot.

If the ports are too small, a reduced diameter section could be welded on easily enough.
Changing the spacing wouldn't be that hard either.

There are only two holes, to line up. Make it fit.

I was of the impression they both took 35mm headers?

Ill just give it a shot and see how they go, worst thing that can happen is they dont fit!
