Do a search on here and many people have used everything from Kreem to Apple Cider Vinegar.

I have had great luck with the Kreem tank liner kit, with rust remover, rinse, and coating.

Fill it with white vinegar 2.97 gal at wall mart and let it sit for a couple days, rinse throughly with high pressure water and coat with WD 40 or something because it will flash rust on you comes out like new bare metal. won't hurt the fuel sending unit or petcock cleans them up also, just remove after soaking to rinse and clean , also aids in getting into tank for high pressure rinse
