I am putting the carbs back on the bike and am not sure what hose goes to the smaller outlet on the petcock. There is a hose that runs to the engine is that one one that fits on? is that where the vacuum is located? Can anyone help with diagrams?

The vac hose goes to #3 - the brass nipple that is engine side of the slide. The hose that runs from the engine I presume is your breather tube and is a bit fatter. It should run from the top of the cam cover to the airbox.79 GS1000S
