    Carb swap 83 GS400E to a 77 GS400

Would the carbs from a 1983-Suzuki-GS400E also work on a 1977 GS400? Thanks

If you can mount them they'll work, it's then a matter of working out if the throttle linkages are different or if it's a straight swap etc.

I haven't seen either sets of carbs in person so can't comment, but given they're both 400's they should be similar enough in size etc. to at least be functional. May need some jetting changes perhaps...

Do a look up on Alpha Sports or something for the intake pipes on the cylinder head and see if they're common between the two models and that will tell you if they will be an easy fit or not.

The airbox of course is a whole different ball game...

The ones on my bike are Mikuni Bs34's... http://www.650central.com/Paper%20filter%20BS34.jpg ... and i had them apart multiple times and went through a few floats and one of them is spitting fuel out backfiring and wont keep the bike running and the parts for a rebuild are pretty pricey so i found these for $80 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...3#ht_757wt_958 ..and figured they will work and if not anything i can use some parts.

Aaaah I see! That does make sense...

I'm pretty sure they're still BS34's, or at least I know the 450 ones are, so I would think it's just a matter of making them fit physically...

Sounds like it's definitely worth a try anyway, will definitely be good to know if there's another alternative...
