    1980 GS450 Dynoi Jet Kit??

Soryy if this topic has been beat to death, but Im wondering if anyone has used the 83 dynojet kit on a 1980-1982 GS450. Dynojet only sells a 83+ kit, and im assuming the carbs are different being that the 1980-82 GS450 has a 115 pilot jet while the 83 has a 45 pilot, though they both have a 115 main. I emailed them awhile back and they said it wouldnt work, but even If the tapered needle would work it may be worth it. Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks,
    Denni

They ain't gonna work... from memory all the jets and needles are different, I wanted to do the same thing...

I discovered in my '82 that I have adjustable needles, so I'm going to start by using that adjustment with some bigger mains and go from there.

If I discover some bad fueling between 1/4 and 3/4 throttle even with the needl adjustments, I'll start properly researching needles and get a different taper that seems appropriate then.

I wish DJ made a kit for our bikes though, would be so much easier...

            Hi,

Talk to rapidray. He can sell you just the tapered needles for about half the price of a full DJ kit. But he has to sell them in sets of four. Maybe a couple of you 450 guys can split a set.

            Thank you for your indulgence,

Yes, do this! Sorry Dennis I complete forgot, so thanks for the reminder BassCliff!

I contemplated this a while ago but when I found my needles were adjustable I stuck with them for the time being and was going to see how they went with some plug chops and things first.

                  Sounds like a plan!

Can you post some good pic's comparing them to the existing ones when you get them? I'm keen to see the difference...

Hey Dennis, how'd you go with the needles?

I believe I've got to rejet now before my 450 will run so I think I should definitely look at the possibility of getting some other needles.

Did you get the needles and if so, did you get a comparison photo with the stockers at all?
