i have an 83 gs1100 with a set of carbs i rebuilt as per the passcliff instructions. airbox installed. with the choke on it starts but idles around 3000 until i warm it up and release the choke, then it idles where ever i set it . what is a normal rpm for idle with choke on?

Since the "choke" is variable, the engine speed is, too.
I modulate mine to keep RPM below 2000 while the engine is cold.
