Dynojet OOPS!

So, the dynojet instructions say to use the supplied drill bit to drill out (open up) the air lift hole in the slide...

All the images available show this as a straight through hole... shining a light through it looks like a straight hole..

Gently clamped in a foam wrapped vise, I drill straight down...


OOPs!! The EFFIN hole is at a very slight angle!! Now I have a nice straight hole on one end, and an oblong hole at the other...

Good thing I have an extra set of carbs from the parts bike...


For anyone planning to install Dynojet kits to their carbs, beware!! pay close attention to the angle.

I've done three of the four now, including the replacement of #1. All look great. Now that I know to drill at a slight angle!!

I seem to recall suggesting to a certain someone to ask before doing to prevent making a permanent mistake

This is partly what I was taking about. The other part was using the right bit (the small one).

Plenty. Most make the wrong bit mistake too.
Plug em up with JBWeld and start over. If ya don't have spares.

Question... if that is drilled on my carbs and I am now back to stock setup will that make it run leaner or richer? Sorry for parctial hijack... reading through these trying to sort out my issue.

Im still not sure if mine was drilled... but likely was. I heard you can fill with JB weld and then redrill, I guess if I try the drill bit size it is supposed to be I could find out. so if anyone knows that off hand it would be nice, this is on my 80 850G.

within reason...it does not affect anything.
round on one side...oval on the other.
shlt happens and i have seen no adverse affects from this.

From what I have read, the perpose of the larger hole is to compensate for vaccume diferences.

Yep - they're fine. Quite a few folk cock this up in exactly the same way but the things still run ok.
