    Broken Bleeder (Pilot Jet) *and* Differences in my carbs and this link....

    1977 GS750, VM carbs

    (1) Im rebuilding my carbs. Does not look like they have been messed with before. Had no issues except for one broken Bleeder (Pilot Jet) on my #2 carb. Pic below. The little part of the shaft with the holes in it broke off and I had to dig it out. Is this an issue as far as performance? Do I HAVE to buy another one or will it be fine. I can see through the port all the way through, and it seems like it may not be a huge deal, but just checking.



    (2) The picture at this link (http://members.dslextreme.com/users/...rb_rebuild.pdf) shows little plastic washers, a spring, and a gasket when disassembling the slide assembly. None of mine had any of that, just the jet needle with a C clip and the arm part had no gasket under it. Just a small difference in how the carbs were made? Just checking. It ran without all that and like I said I dont think the carbs were rebuilt so it seems stock. Pic of mine below to compare to the image in the link...

      After a little more research (duh) I found those pilot jets on Z1. Ive never rebuilt carbs before and wasnt sure if that was an easy piece to find. Im a FI kind of guy, so this jets and screws stuff is weird to me.

      Still wondering about the slides.

          The springs and washers are not present in all the versions, so you should be OK
          1978 GS 1000 (since new)

              (1) Do you HAVE to buy it? NO.

              Next question: Do you want it to run right?
              Then you will HAVE to get one.
              Let's face it, it's there for a reason.


              (2) The '77 carbs were unique in not having the plastic spacer and spring.
