    Gaskets on carb-engine boots

    Got my new boots for the carbs. Wow, the rubber is actually not rock hard.

    The old ones, where they bolt onto the engine, have a rubber circle in there (is it just an o-ring? it's flat) The old ones are all broken/dead. What should I replace those with or are they just weird o-rings?

    First bike rebuild, learning to love my impact driver.

        Cycleorings.com has the O-rings for the intake pipe boots. They also have O-rings for your carbs. It's highly advised to go though your carbs while they are off the bike, unless you already have.

          Going to cross my fingers and try to find them local. I really wanna go for a ride tomorrow. Maybe I'll order some as a just in-case I can't find any.

            They need to be Buna N/Nitrile Orings. They'll both withstand petrol and high heat. A normal oring will be destroyed quickly, if it's not turned to goo...

              be careful of what you buy.......

              get them from cycleorings as mentioned, but this is what you need

              For most Suzukis, the part numbers you're looking for are:

              09280-32006 (32mm = 'Small') for '79 and older 750 & larger
              09280-38004 (38mm = 'Large') for most '80 and later bikes.
              Usually available at your dealership, as well as here.

              Note: Do not just grab O-rings from an assortment. They'll burn. You need a fairly special material (called Viton) that can withstand the heat of the cylinder head. Nitrile O-rings, no matter how well they fit, wouldn't hold up.

                Brain hicup here Josh, the boot O-rings MUST be Viton. Buna N/Nitrile O-rings can't take the engine heat.

                    Local really means dealer IF you want the correct ones like Ed and Josh said. Trust me, you'll spend more and wait longer than if you get them from www.cycleorings.com. Don't waste your money man.

                      I need to order the kit for my bike, but its not in the list (1982 gs750T 16 valves)

                      The list:


                      77-79 750's, 850's and 1000's use 32mm o-rings and 16mm screws.
                      79 425's use 40mm O-rings and oddball 6x35 screws, which I don't carry. **
                      77-79 550's use 28mm O-rings (which I don't carry) and 16mm screws.
                      80 & 81 1100E and 750's don't use intake O-rings or screws (so you're off the hook!)
                      80 & 81 1000's use 40mm O-rings and 16mm screws. **
                      80 and later 850's use 38mm O-rings and 20mm screws.
                      81-83 650's use 38mm O-rings and 16mm screws.
                      80-82 550's " "
                      80-82 450E's use 40mm O-rings and 20mm screws.
                      82 & 83 1100's (2-valve) use 40mm O-rings and 16mm screws.
                      83-86 550's use a siamesed setup; they take 30mm O-rings, and five 16mm screws and one 20mm screw. There's a 'medley' screw set on the order page for these bikes.
                      85 700 uses 38mm O-rings and 20mm screws.

                          Your bike doesn't have the O-rings. Same as the chain drive 1100's. Intake tubes are just that, no O-rings.
