I adjusted my valves this last weekend. I swear I noticed a difference in how the engine cranked both in the way it felt and sounded. It felt tighter. I can't explain the sound. Is that the case? Or am I imagining things?

If the valves were very far off, it will run noticeably smoother.
Did you synch the carbs afterwards?
This will make it smoother yet. -
My bike isn't running just yet, so this is based off of hand cranking it. I will be syncing the csrbs though.Comment

theres probably better compression now that the valves are seating properly... that could explain the tighter feel.Comment
