I discovered fuel in my oil the other day from a faulty petcock. I have drained the oil and removed the filter, I was wondering if there is anything I should do before I refill the oil and start the bike again?

As long as it is fully draine then a fresh fill should be fine.
You could flush it out with a cheap few quarts of oil then re-drain and use good oil. -

You've got a needle and seat passing fuel as well as the faulty petcock. Make sure you do a complete diagnosis and repair before you suffer a hydrolock or set the bike and/or house on fire.
