1979 GS850 idle questionJust getting the bike up and running. All is good, except the bike idles at around 5k when in neutral. Adjusting the idle knob has no effect. Any insights on what the problem and solution might be would be most appreciated!!Tags: None

The idle will drop to around 1.5 when it's put into 1st. Would a tight throttle still be the problem?

What was it doing before you worked on it? did you work on the carbs or valve shims? if so did you vacuum sych the carbs? could be a choke cable stuck? or choke shaft sticking. Basically just check to make sure all your cables have good play and nothing is binding on the carbs.Rob
