    is vinigar OK.. to dip cv carbys in???????

    hi guys is vinigar ok,,, to dip my 1980 cvcarbys in maybe for 2-3 days,,,, vinigar and 50% water ,, ,,then blow them out then redip thim in 98% unleaded fuel we have in kaniva australia,,,,, for a couple of days ,,,i can also use a new paint brush and brush them inside /out etc... what do you think,,, regards oldgrumpy

    Hmm, others are going to come on here with personal experience I'm sure, but I have seen a few examples of carbs looking rather, um, chalky after a vinegar dip...I don't have time to find the threads right now, but I'll do my best to find you some examples later.

            Just make sure to spray them down with some WD-40 after to prevent flash rust and keep them nice.

              I believe the Yamaha stuff is concentrate that you add to water.

                I did a set of carbs on my old cx500 in vinegar. Seemed to work decent, not as good as carb dip, but not bad. It did make them look a little chalky, I just sprayed them with mag wheel cleaner and rinsed them quickly. Then sprayed them with wd-40 before I assembled.
