Winter gas

My scooter is a main source of transportation and as far as I'm concerned, if the streets are clear, I'll ride. Any suggestions on starting in the cold? Additives to get rid of water that may freeze in the tank?
Saw some post about 'seafoam'. What is that exactly?
Any hints or recommendations are appreciated.

Off note. Good place to find a muffler?

Run my bikes all year round. Always run Stabil marine formula (blue stuff) that will keep the moisture out of the tank. You may find the battery will have a harder time to crank over. Storing in a heated space helps with that. Battery tenders are a must if the bike will sit for weeks on end. Can always turn the mixture screw out to help with start up and idle since cold air is denser so there is more molecules in colder air... However I've never rejetted the motorcycles in the winter time but did have to adjust the idle circuit on my 2-stroke scoots. I also drop the pressure a bit in the tires to get a bigger contact patch and low pressure heats up the tire quicker and keeps it warmer in the winter... I installed knobby dirt bike tires on the scoots to go in the snow. Works great.

LOL Love the video for 'Start". I've seen it in shelves but never bought it... Generally if I have an issue I just clean the Carb, it being a bike, weed whacker or lawn mower.

I swear by the Blue marine Sta-bil. I had my Carbs cleaned once on the GS750L when I got the bike at 12k miles. Run Marine sta-bil in it almost every tank and haven't had to clean the carbs once now she's pushing 40k. I generally ride her once a month maybe once every couple of months in the winter. The carbs never gum up. I buy the marine Sta-bil in the quart containers, that's how often I use it.

A lot of folk here buy Harley take-off mufflers to replace rusted out GS mufflers. Very inexpensive, choice of designs, and almost always brand new. Lots on eBay I am told.

I use Star Tron year round. It is an excellent stabilizer, but my bike never sits for more than a few days at a time.

I'm going to be selling one of my bikes, so I am not going to be riding it much this winter. It has the smallest pilot orifices I have seen, so they get clogged if you let it sit much.

Didn't think about looking for mufflers from other manufactures. Makes sense. Triumph I had was part Sportster. Be nice if I could find something that bolts right on.

Great plan. Colorado is a year round riding place, unless you live in the mountains.

Use the choke.

There won't be any water if you ride year round. It's a dry climate, water isn't a problem.

Some stuff you don't need. It cleans carbs and stabilizes gasoline, among other claims.

What kind of muffler do you want? A scooter muffler?

Before you store the bike, throw some Stabil in it and take it for good half hour ride - this method gets the Stabil into those nasty holes. My bike always starts right up after a winter's nap.

You realize if you change mufflers it will require quite a bit of carburetor tuning to get it to run correctly?
