    I do remember a thread about modifying a stock petcock, if I remember correctly it goes like this, file off the stop that keeps the lever from pointing up and shorten the lever so it can be turned pointing up without hitting the tank. I do believe that's the mod that positively shuts off the gas, but no guarantees. I'm not suggesting you do that, hopefully I can find that thread. That would be a last resort, hopefully others will chime in.

            I found a Pingle manual petcock and a Pingle adaptor plate for my 79'GS1000. Will this work, by just capping off the vacuum lines?
