Those are the metal plugs covering the idle mixture screws...gotta take those plugs out to remove the idle mixture needle before cleaning the carbs, all the needles have a an oring on it. Besides, you'll need to readjust the idle mixture anyways once you have the carbs redone.Last edited by Guest; 02-21-2013, 11:06 AM.Comment

There seem to be a few conflicting reports on "the plug".
In post #15, he says:

Yes, you need that plug. In fact, why not just order up a set of four and replace them all? They are not that expensive, and are critical to proper operation of the carb.

Those rubber plugs for the pilot jets get lose over time from pulling them out. I wrap a little strip of silicone tape around each one when I put them back in. That will hold them tightly in place.Comment

new plugs ordered, gotta wait 5 days for 'em though so a thorough cleaning of the carbs and valve adjustment in the meantime!Comment
