Where does this spring go?

Okay, I'm getting old, so while I'm disassembling this set of 79 VMs for a 750/850, I put this spring on the choke arm. Now, I'm reassembling and I can't remember where and how the spring goes

Where and which way does this spring go?

The parts fishe suggests it goes on the end of the choke rod. Forcing the choke rod to rotate closed. Can't remember much beyond this though.

Outside of far left carb there is a shaft protruding.

Okay,

I see where the where the spring sits and where the narrow end goes

Where does the wide end go?

It wants to hook over the rack end, but not much tension there

Is there a little nylon bushing under the spring?

Mine has a white plastic bushings
