Are all carbs the same in a bank of 4...
Are the carbs interchangeable between them? Yes i know the linkage would have to be changed. But are they able to switch places? Also are all 34mm CV (older style) interchangeable with these ones?
Thanks for the help!Last edited by Guest; 05-28-2013, 12:02 PM.Tags: None

The simple answer is NO, and carb location is unique and jetting varies bike to bike.Originally posted by norman1950 View PostAre the carbs interchangeable between them? Thanks for the help!I agree, the simple answer is NO. Besides the obvious differences that you have noted in the throttle linkages, there are differences in the fuel inlets and vent positions.Originally posted by posplayr View PostThe simple answer is NO, and carb location is unique and jetting varies bike to bike.
#2 carb also has the vacuum port for the petcock that the others don't.
Which ones are "these ones"??Originally posted by norman1950 View PostAlso are all 34mm CV (older style) interchangeable with these ones?
You have not mentioned any bike and there is none in your signature (hint, hint).

Hi,
Between them what? Between what and what?Originally posted by norman1950 View PostAre the carbs interchangeable between them?
Do you mean perhaps to use a #1 carb for a #3 carb? No.Yes i know the linkage would have to be changed. But are they able to switch places?
Do you mean use a rack of carbs from one bike on another bike? Depends. We need to know what bikes. Some GS bikes use the same carbs but have different spacing and different jetting. Some are cross-compatible, many are not.
Using non-stock carbs on certain bikes is possible, even beneficial from a performance standpoint. But more information is necessary. It's hard to determine what you're talking about. Also are all 34mm CV (older style) interchangeable with these ones?
Note: You can put your bike year and model in your signature file (Click "User CP" in the upper left corner of your screen) and that will help.
Thank you for your indulgence,

I have tried this a couple times. There must be a glitch at the moment. When I save, it goes straight to the "there are no subscribed thread" verbage.Originally posted by BassCliff View Post

Thank you all for the input. The bike is a 1980 GS1000 GLT. You all have answered my question about moving the carbs position wise or the ability to pull in a different carb into the set up.
I was lucky enough to find Mike from here and got a set of good carbs coming shortly!

Should not have to have any "subscribed thread" going on, but you now have a location AND a signature.Originally posted by norman1950 View PostI have tried this a couple times. There must be a glitch at the moment. When I save, it goes straight to the "there are no subscribed thread" verbage.
