    Cleaning carbs question

I have a 1980 gs 450l, I have the carbs apart currently, but before I dip them, the guide doesnt say so clearly. Do you leave the rubber diaphram on the carb body when you dip or not?

Remove EVERYTHING from the carb body except the throttle butterfly.

Parts that need to go into the dip:
        carb body
        pilot fuel jet
        pilot air jet
        needle jet
        main jet
        float bowl
        float needle

If the diaphragm covers are really dirty, soaking them will clean them up.

NOTE: if the covers or the float bowls have a factory 'polish' and clear coat, the clear coat WILL be removed in the dip.
No problem, that makes it easier to polish it yourself.

          AHhhhh...shiney !!!

The dip will eat anything rubber, well, not really eat it, but, it will make it turn to a slimey, mushey mess.
