Ungang CarbsI've hit a little bump in the road in my attempt to rebuild my carbs. Can't budge a single screw on either gang rail. I've tried vise grips but I'm hesitant to use an impact driver for fear of damaging the carb bodies. Any suggestions?

 Much thanks.Tags: None

Try putting the carbs on an old pillow or something similar that's nice and soft with plenty of give and use the impact driver then. Don't wallop the impact just give it a sharp tap.79 GS1000S

Impact driver won't turn if you set the carbs on something soft. Just use it with the carbs on the workbench. It won't hurt anything.

i cannot stress enough the effectiveness of spraying a stuck fastener with penetrating oil and letting it soak in for awhile. definitely would be my first step before banging on stuff and stripping heads. using a heat gun to CAREFULlY warm the area before spraying works better yet. shield nearby parts you think could be damaged with foil.

assuming you have not already done this.

 PB Blaster

Yeah, I hit em all with PB Blaster before attempting to loosen, I'll try the impact driver.

 Thanks all!

Just don't go wailing on them with the hammer.Originally posted by Agemax View Posthas always worked for me too, just grip the impact driver and twist anticlockwise as you hit it......Ed

 Pilot Screw O-Ring

Been trying for an hour to get the Pilot Screw O-Rings out using a paper clip with a little hook at the end. Can't get those little buggers out!
Anybody have luck with an alternate method?

Carbs Separated! I'm glad I did that, the first transfer tub I removed, an o-ring fell right off.
