hello my 79 850 smokes like crazy after I start it. And after it warms up it stops smoking. How can i fix this.

Out the exhaust? If so change out the valve stem seals. -
a) as chef stated ... it's likely valve stem seals, and consequently oil dripping down overnight ( one of my bikes needs the replacement done and I'll watch chef perform this fix one day
)
b) when starting cold ... go out of your way to control idle at the lowest possible level (without stalling obviously) for a minute or two ... and then it won't be so obnoxious!
