Idle tends to not work evenly.

Can't get my idle to work at a steady idle. When adjusted to proper speed, it tends to rise up to 3000 rpms and won't go down unless i rev the engine real quick then goes down and then dies after 10 secs. or so. Maybe a low idle jet in one of the carbs?

    Maybe,

but what you are describing is a classic hanging idle situation.

    What bike? What year?

    What's it's history?

Check your carb boots I'd bet they're leaking. Also make sure the airbox is properly sealed , the valves are in spec and the carbs are clean (stripped and dipped not sprayed).

Would be helpful to know what bike, mods, and the staus of any known issues & maintenance performed.

Most likely an air leak some where - bad/cracked intake boots, poorly sealed airbox, choke not closing completely, carbs in need of a cleaning...

Start by checking off the basic maintenance tasks and see where it gets you.

A sticky centrifugal advance can do this, but more than likely it is air leaks.
