Retuning Pilot Circuit on 1977 GS550

I just rebuilt the carbs on my '77 GS550 the other day and while removing the float bowl I accidentally removed the pilot fuel screws in one of the carbs. I counted two turns out on one of the other carbs and did the same for the carb I messed up. I looked in the FSM for a baseline of how far to turn out the pilot fuel screw but noticed it said "do not disturb these screws" referring to the pilot fuel screws. Needless to say I'm a bit freaked out by that. Could I set the pilot air screws two turns out and tune the fuel screws until I get the highest idle from the bike? I do have a carb sync tool. Will it help me with my problem? any insight would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
    Matt

You can't clean the carbs with those needles in. Air screw should be set at 1.75 turns open and fuel screws at 3/4 of one turn open. Becareful or you will break the tips of the fuel screws off.

If you didn't replace the intake pipe boot O-rings you should do it now.
