    Jardine or Vance and Hines?

I am planning on putting a 4 into one exhaust on my 1978 GS750E, and would like to know which would be the best performance wise, a Jardine or a Vance and Hines exhaust? I plan on rejetting also.

I was about to ask same question for my 79 Gs1000L.
I heard the V+H pipes lose the chrome ( and therefore rust) faster than any other mfg.
    1980 GS1000G - The Beast - GOING... GOING... yup, it's gone. I'm bikeless !!! GAaaahh !!!
    1978 KZ1000C1 Police - GONE !
1983 GPZ750, aka ZX750A1 - restored, fresh paint... Gave it back, it was a loaner !!!

Well, Who do you think is the more performance oriented manufacturer?

V & H of course. They have the track records to back it up.

Perhaps you should be looking toward Supertrapp or Yosh... or even keeping it stock

I find this chart hard to believe. It shows all the exhaust brands making less HP at 9000 RPM than they make at 7500 RPM. Something doesn't add up....

Unless your bike is jetted for the headers, it might be slower than stock !

The biggest performance gain from a pipe is the weight loss. As for hp increase eh. I installed a RC pipe (same as a V&H pipe) and K&N air filer and and to open up my main jets some, that is about it. I also have the Accel super coils on my bike as well.

I have a V&H chromed drag pipe. It has been fitted to a katana which has never had the engine run. It is in a shipping container, so the humiddity may be a bit higher than my garage. The pipe chrome is pitted on the down pipes.
this is garbage, and i would not buy another V&H pipe, as it shows how poorly finished they are. Again ,to be clear, it has never been run, but is rusting.

I have thirty year old V&H pipes with not a speck of rust anywhere. Been out riding in rain and snow, not cleaned very often.

Anythng will rust in a crappy enough environment.

I have a Star pipe on my street GS. I like the fact it has individual down pipes into a colector then into the megaphone. It sounds awesome. I have a Bob Carpenter "Vasar" drag pipe on the drag bike. Its also a high quality header...
