petcock will not shut off

My petcock is passing fuel in all positions. Don't have the tank on the bike. Any thoughts why?

Hi,

Yes, the rubber, diaphragm, spring, mating surfaces, etc, are 30 years old. It may last for years. It may last a week. Be prepared to replaced it and then you won't have to think about it for another 20 or 30 years.

Do yourself a favor and buy a new one as mentioned above, you are on borrowed time.

And when it rises do not run your bike you will destroy the lower end, bearings don't like gas , and a 650 G is an insert bearing motor

Kit or New Petcock?

Would you recommend a kit or new petcock? Doesn't appear that Z1 has a petcock for the GS650G.

two models- one hits reserve later (cheaper one)
You need the two special washers that go under tank mounting bolts also
