What should I use to clean a stock air filter? And then, what type of oil should be used on it?

Stock paper cartridges can have some dirt blown out with an air hose,,but they still will be dirty. The paper cartridges ARE NOT meant to be washed or such. just change it out with a new one.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it. -
Mineral Spirits (paint thinner) works well on the stock foam filters. Regular motor oil used sparingly after the filter is dry. Look in your factory service manual for more specifics.Ed
