Finally got a decent pic. I don't trust that green fuel line, but it looks like the answer. I might follow the suggestion to remove a little from the petcock lever. The seat is not installed in the pic.

You should be able to go at a 90 and right in front of the slide towers..wont be extreme or kink the line. Theres plenty of room.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)
1978 GS 1000 E, 1979 GS 1000 S, 1973 Yamaha TX 750, 1977 Kawasaki KZ 650B1, 1975 Honda GL1000 Goldwing, 1983 CB 650SC Nighthawk, 1972 Honda CB 350K4, 74 Honda CB550
NEVER SNEAK UP ON A SLEEPING DOG..NOT EVEN YOUR OWN.
I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

The hard part is getting the length correct. Too long and it will kink, too short and it won't go on the fuel tap outlet. Start long and work your way downOriginally posted by FLHGSRay View PostFinally got a decent pic. I don't trust that green fuel line, but it looks like the answer. That's an '80 tank; at least the paint job is. I remember the blue paint scheme when I was looking for a brand new 1000T. They were on sale for $2749 in early '81. I think an '81 petcock will fit the '80 tank and they have a much abbreviated lever incorporated. Also the tank profile on the GS1000 chain driven models was the same from '78 through '80.Originally posted by FLHGSRay View PostWe've had this discussion before and couldn't figure it out. I know my bike is a one-owner, and he said this was the only tank he could get when the original rusted out.

I'm told the bolt spacing on the leverless petcock is different than the lever type. They're not interchangeable. Also, this is factory paint, but not a '79 color, and the rest of my bike is black.
