Fuel leaking out the fuel gauge sending unit hose

I just talked to someone who has fuel leaking out the hose that comes off the sending unit for the fuel gauge. I told him that I thought the vent on the gas cap was clogged, but I'd also check to see what the GS'ers thought it might be. Anyone have an answer?

Sending unit gasket is leaking and the trap is catching it and running it off as was designed to do.

Vent could be plugged as well causing the tank to pressurize and push fuel past the sending unit seal. I'd check ALL the tank seals just to be safe.
