Hi everyone
My new to me 1979 gs850g has what may be the original petcock.
I did notice that one of the previous owners placed what looks to be a machine bolt inside a vacuum hose to work like a "plug" to seal it off. (I have not tried to remove the tank yet to see what the hose leads to).
Since the list of "10 biggest mistakes" for new owners lists not replacing the fuel cock/petcock (and for all I know the bolt is there to maybe deal with a leak) I am trying to find a cheap replacement for the petcock.
I have read that the rebuild kits do not fix everything and replacement is usually recommended from what I read.
I see the OEM part from the dealership is over $100.00
What years (and makes/models) would be compatible with the vacuum operated type fuel cock for my 1979 gs850g ?
I'm looking to keep this bike cheap,any help appreciated.
