diaphragm storage?

hello everyone,

doing the carb clean/rebuild on my 82 GS850G and need to put the project on hold for a week.

is it ok to store the diaphragms/slides in individually numbered ziploc bags? i just don't want them to dry out - they're in great shape, just not going to have time to proceed with disassembly until next weekend.

They won't dry out in a week.

They'll be fine (they can't dry out any more so then engine heat has done)- 85 kmiles on them ?, wow, that's a lot of flexing. Maybe I'll never have to replace mine

yep, i bought the bike from the original owner. he did tell me the lower end of the engine was replaced though. it's in overall good condition. just needs some maintenance and some cleaning to be ready for the road in spring.

Rather than scrunch them up in zip-loc bags, store them upside down in muffin tins.



That will keep them ROUND, not flattened-out, to ensure that they seal easier whenever you get them installed again.

And, I can guarantee that her muffins don't taste ANYTHING like carburetor diaphragms.
