1981 gs 550 CV Carb Setup

    Hi,

I have a 81 GS550 an I am looking for a little advice on carb setup. I want to toss the stock air box and go with a pod style air filters and a Kerker header. I have done some research and it seems the CV carbs need the stock setup does anybody have any tuning / jetting suggestions for this setup or would it be better to use a set of Mikuni carbs I have off of a 77 gs550.

    Thanks

My suggestion would be to get it running right with stock airbox and then you can graduate to the pod world. Is this bike a new friend-is it running now?

Thanks for your reply the motor is from a parts bike I picked up with 11 k and looked to be well taken care of I ran it briefly before I started the project.

Get a Dynojet kit from the '82 550M and run real K&N's or uni filters. Do not use the cheap junky chinese pods.

Needless to say make sure you update all the various carb O-rings, vacuum sync the carbs, and adjust the valves.

        Good luck
