    Compatible Fuel Tanks 1982 GS450

Do you guys know what years/models fuel tanks are compatible with the 82 GS450? Looks like the GS550 is the same.

    I don't think anything on a 550 fits a 450. Similar style maybe but it's all bigger..

Life is too short to ride an L.

          Sorry, you can't have an '82 450TX.

The "X" at the end says it's an '81, so which one do you have?

Regardless, the only other tank that will bolt straight on will be from another 450T.

Hmmmm......It must be a T then. I think you were helping figure out my model on another thread. Someone posted an old bike ad and it looks like the blue one. Sorry for all of the newbie questions.

Take a look at the VIN plate on the steering stem. It might tell you what model year it is, but will definitely tell you the VIN.

If it has not been rubbed off, look in the lower right corner of the tag, it will show the letter T, X, Z or D for '80, '81, '82 or '83, respectively.

VIN does indicate it's a 1982 GS450 but I don't think the VIN will tell you what sub model.
