Help with airbox hoses

Well, to find a peculiarity in the OE's fiche is a rarity. Thankfully.

But, after doing some creative Googling with the oldest number, 13881-49200, the next number, 13881-49020, and the final supersede 13881-49021, I sort of stumbled across a completely different number --- 13881-45450. Even more strange was the "where used" list being so abbreviated --- fits 82-83 GS750T models.

That, in and of itself, was enough to prompt some further sleuthing. OE's survive by making as few different parts as possible for as many different models as possible. Simple economics. So for a random 750 model to have it's own unique airbox hoses, red flags were waving and bells were going off.

I called two local "well established" (read: OLD) dealers to determine if they had the part on their shelf that they could measure for me. No such luck.

In the meantime, Michael Robinson, from the aforementioned Robinson Foundary responded to an inquiry. His reply:



So after this accumulated evidence, I think we're going to proceed and order Trevor some 13881-45450 boots and have a go at making them work.

My hope is that Trevor concludes this thread with some positive news that subsequent victims of an oversight can find useful in the future.

Now, if we can just figure out how to get Suzuki Motor Corp to update their information.

Well this is good stuff! I thought I was going crazy and Chris at Z1 I think thought I was giving some wrong information somehow. But I gotta say Chris at Z1 never gave up. And thanks to them and HH here on good ole GSR we look like we have it solved.
As for making this info available for people down the road, I'm not sure how that can be done.

Nope that is the replacement number. But I'm curious about part #3. Does it fit internally to the hose ?

Yeah part# 3 fits internally in the boot, helps keeps the boot's shape and from collapsing. When I got my new ones (new design and part number), they are one solid piece compared to my old ones which are split. The new type are bitch to try install. Never got them in no matter what I tried and tried a couple tricks mentioned by some others here on the forum. No go. I just took my old ones and spread them out some to make a tighter fit. Worked just fine for me. Now I have these new ones I'm not gonna use.

...................... no.3 is a light st/st ring which goes on the inside of the carby boots ,,if you spray them with rp7 it will make them easier to slip in and then gently wipe up any excess rp7 it will not do any damage but easier to to on without crap floating around regards oldgrumpy

Yes I know they go inside the crab boots, I said that. And I tried what you just wrote, didn't work. I tried several ways for about 2 hrs. Went back to the original rings, they worked just fine.
