hi,can anyone point me to a thread on what needles and jets to use on a basic 1978 gs750 running with k&n filters or advise thanks.

Hi. If you use the search feature and type in 'GS750 jetting' you'll find loads of threads. Beware that the Yanks also called the GSX750 a GS750 so watch out for the year. And also beware that the answer for your bike will be different to others. Remember your bike had several different configurations 'out of the box'.

As a start to get you in the ball park I would pop in 125 mains and raise the needles (lower the clips) at least one notch.
