GS450 - Carb revs ok but taking long time to decel.Just as the title states. Throttle response isn't too bad, not exactly what I'd call crisp but...not bad. But when you do rev the throttle, it hangs up there forever and slooooowly decels and comes back down to idle. Throttle cable's not hanging up, it's snapping right back but the slides are taking long time to come back down.

Yes, ordered o-rings from the cycleorings guy here on the forum and already replaced the orings behind the intake boots. Inspected boots, look OK, don't see any cracks in them.

I drilled the caps off the mixture screws. Left was out 3.0 turns, right was out 2.75 turns. Chart I read here said 2.0 turns so I set them there and no difference. When I turn them in or out, I can't remember if I'm letting in more/less air, or more/less fuel. Called an air mixture screw, I'm guessing more out means more air but can someone tell me for sure?

So, here's the story. Bike was running great. Is mid project, start it up every week or two, run it, park it. Few weeks ago, started but ran poorly. Thought carb problem. Took carbs apart to soak, accidently broke the needle jet Y-6. No longer available, can't find one anywhere. At this point, I already have the o-ringkit for the carbs and a 6Sigma jet kit as I'm running pod filters and a shorty exhaust. But, broken jet, no go. So, ordered another set of carbs from eBay, says they're off a GS450S like mine but...must be different year as the carbs are similiar but not same. I gave quick clean, seem OK, put on, starts, idles, revs eh, not great but pretty good. But has that hanging idle problem. I noticed the replacement carbs have smaller main jets than the old carbs. Should I put my old mains in or install the jet kit if it'll fit these carbs? You t hink that'll cur emy hanging idle?

Getting the mixture right will cure your hanging idle... Switching the mains may or may not cure it, switching to the jet kit may or may not cure it.

If it's any help, carbs from a GS500 will work pretty easily. And the carb boots from a GS500 (at least from89-02) will bolt onto your head with either set of carbs.

I know you said your boots look good, but that doesn't mean the are not allowing air to leak past.
