Can I somehow make it so that the fuel flows from the other end of the petcock so the fuel line doesn't wrap around awkwardly? I really don't want to blow $90 on an OEM petcock, but as always I try to respect the general consensus.

So my oil smells like gas. I need a new petcock. Will this one fit on my GS850?

So your fuel outlet points toward front now? That style seems less common. Anyways, that Z1 petcock should work, but you probably should get this one instead- it has higher fuel pickup, so you get more reserve fuel.
Z1 Enterprises specializes in quality Motorcycle parts for Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha Classic Japanese motorcycles from the 1970's and 1980's.
The chances are good that this Z1 petcock is made by same manufacturer that supplies suzuki with their OEM units1981 gs650L

The two hoses on the left are the vacuum hose and fuel line. Does this mean that something's been changed? If it doesn't require too much modification I'd love to get that petcock but can anyone confirm that it fits my 81' 850?Comment

Looks like the same petcock that's leaking on my 1980 GS1000G. One of the reasons I didn't get one from Z1 was because they didn't list it specifically for my model/year and the one pictured didn't look the same as the one I had. It looked more like the one on my 850GL. I'll be curious as to what arrives from the Suzuki dealer and what it looks like.http://img633.imageshack.us/img633/811/douMvs.jpg

Darn, with so many daily riders it's hard to decide which one to jump on next.;)
