Cheers mate, looked again at the diagrams and I see now the adjustment is internal. Just expected the adjusters to be on the outside of the linkage

Arent those CV carbs with the adjusters on the outside? Mine are SV28ss? with the rectangular tops. Ive seen now that the adjusters are inside these caps?

Correct. You have Mikuni VM28SS carbs. You'll also hear them called manual or slide carbs or just VMs.

Steve's photo is of Mikuni BS carbs aka CVs. They're quite different.

Thanks mate. Thought I was going crazy here lol. They shall henceforth be known to me as CV or SV carbs I still got loads of questions though and more daily lol.

I just went back and re-read through the entire thread. The ONLY mention of a bike was "GS1000S".
It was made for only two years, so it was a 50/50 chance.

Until now, I see NO indication of year of bike or type of carbs, so it's still a guess.

NOW we know what's there.

You ARE going crazy, that's why you joined the assylum.

Please note that "CV" is a type of carb, not the model. The "CV" stands for "constant-velocity", which is due to the variable venturi provided by the moving slide. The model is actually "BS", as in "Mikuni BS34SS".

The carbs that you have are "VM" carbs, as in "Mikuni VM28SS".

If you call them "SV" carbs, nobody will know what you are talking about.

Sorry Steve, ive redressed the lack of info now in my sig hopefully. And the SV was a typo, I meant VM Think I was thinking of SU carbs Ive messed with in the past
