Niiiice. I learned a thing or two here.Originally posted by lrgguy View PostOHHH BABY !!! FIRED RIGHT UP !!
like what was said just had to adjust the big idle screw 1 turn ... idling right at 1100 rpm , if I turn the idle down to 1000 I start getting that rattle in the clutch basket .. which is going to be one of the next projects .. taking this girl out for aride and see how she behaves ..
Thx again to you both ..

You may be right to some extent..but the majority will be well gone once the timing is set to be 100% sure thats spot on and the gauge synching is done. Then its time to turn attention to opening the case and do some clutch inspections.
One step at a time grasshopper.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)
1978 GS 1000 E, 1979 GS 1000 S, 1973 Yamaha TX 750, 1977 Kawasaki KZ 650B1, 1975 Honda GL1000 Goldwing, 1983 CB 650SC Nighthawk, 1972 Honda CB 350K4, 74 Honda CB550
NEVER SNEAK UP ON A SLEEPING DOG..NOT EVEN YOUR OWN.
I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

Yeah as too did I !! When people take the time to not only explain things but simplify the hole process , you realy feel as though you not only acomplished something , but learned a hole lot in the process !!Originally posted by Morrison View PostNiiiice. I learned a thing or two here.

Just spent the last hr riding !! Bike runs like it has never run before , since I have owned it , and knock on wood ... smoke has not came out if the right exhaust as of yet , unlike it was before every time I came to a stop ...
Fourth gear there is a small bit of hesitation when you crack the throttle .. 5 th gear .... HOLD ON BABY !!

The hesitation, how much RPM and how much throttle?Originally posted by lrgguy View PostJust spent the last hr riding !! Spoke to soon ....
smoke came out of the right exhaust pipe twice when stopped at lights on the ride home ... hoping a new petcock will rectify that!! Still getting a very small amount Iif gas in the vacume line after a 1 1/2 ride ... hope its not a head gasket or a valve seal ??

This only happens after approx 11/2 hrs of riding .or weather it be thats how long It takes for a very small mount of gas to build up in the vacume line .. im talking a couple drops ...Originally posted by tkent02 View PostNot likely.
As for first 2 nd 3 rd you best be holding on when you crack that throttle !!
Up till nowi was thinking what the heck my 83 gs 650 has more ballsthen this !!

Glad to hear things are moving along well, and bike seems to be running nice....
Spyug has a carbtuune, perhaps if you invite him over, and have a few cold ones on hand, I am sure the carbtune will be available for the sync....
