Does this petcock look rebuildable?

I took apart my original petcock of my 450 to assess the damage it may have from leaking for however long. It seems to be in some sort of decent shape and I also pulled the diaphragm spring apart to be more springy. However i did find some black goo AND I cant tell if that twisty spring (picture below) is meant to be twisty... I think I mangled it by recklessly taking the petcock apart.

so.. is this salvageable? I'm trying to do this project the poor man's way haha.

Petcock rebuild kits are notorious for not working. Only about 10% of the time does it work. I wouldn't waist my time or money if there's a replacement still available.

Just get new petcock for $50 and eliminate it as problem- there will be plenty of other stuff to mess with.

The little brass coloured piece is mangled.

Curlie que spring is mangled too. You would have been okay taking it apart and replacing the diaphragm or O-rings, but it looks too damaged now.

Ed, that was the piece I was referring to.

Bent the that very same piece on Stans GK this past week. I managed to straighten it and now it's working as it should. I think in the posters case, the tapered plastic piece might allow the petcock to leak when reassembled.
