    Close-up picture of Vance & Hines 4-1 street system on a GS1000E

    Folks,

I'm thinking about ditching my center stand and modifying my swingarm to accept spools on my 1978 GS1000E. However, I am concerned about possible interference between the spools and the inside of the exhaust near the swingarm - the plan is to install a Vance & Hines 4-1 street system (part 12005)

Can anyone take a closeup photo of the space between the exhaust and the swingarm? Your help is greatly appreciated.

Not sure if this helps... but my 83 GS1100G has a 4-1 V&H.

Would you mind taking one closer up, from the top down so I can see how close the swingarm gets to the exhaust?

      Greatly appreciated, sir!

OP is looking for some shots back by the axle, preferably looking down from above to see if there is room to have a race stand spool sticking out from the swingarm without it fouling the side the of the muffler. OP, I can't tell you if there is room on your 1000E, but I can say that there is room on my 82 1100E with a Kerker canister system.

My "Trackside" rear paddock stand came un assembled with parts for spindles or without. I have no centerstand, no spindles, and stand works just fine, lifts under the rear part of the swing arm.

                THANK YOU!!!!!

Everyone has been a big help - the pic by gordinho80 was EXACTLY what I was looking for. It looks like the exhaust is relatively close to the swingarm except for the last 4 to 6 inches where the chain adjuster and lower shock mount is located.
