Mikuni BS carb swap
Hello, I just found a set of 34 mm mike I BS? Carbs from a Gs1100. I was thinking this would be an excellent upgrade and good value for a performance build up of my 79 Gs1000. I understand the pet kick may not work with this swap? Also how can I use the stock air box? I feel it needs to go in the bin and use pods. Is this set up tuneable , will a dynojet kit address a big bore -1175, ported head, hot cams? Probably not eh? Any suggestions over the 26 era is appreciated. I know " wired George" used to have a service to "oval bore and modify the vm26 out to 29mm. But this seems to have been dropped from his site.Tags: None -
To use carbs that large will require some SERIOUS adapters.

If you are planning on using an 1100 2-valve head, they will bolt right up as they came stock on those engines.Comment

Carb swap
I was thinking the stock gs1100 intake manifolds would work, heck they put those 34mm mikuni's on old kz750's I wasn't thinking this was a reach as far as swaps go. I wasn't aware that they made an 1100 with the 2 valve head. Thank youComment

Any '80-up 1000 2-valve head is also a direct swop and those carbs will fit as they also came stock with them. The later heads also flow better.Comment

Yes, the carbs will bolt right up to the head, but will the head fit on the block?
Not sure if the G engines are any different than the Es, as far a bolt spacing and location.

I personally have swapped the G heads onto E cylinders/engines and visa versa thus the recommendation. Personal EXPERIENCE not hearsay.
One example, this '82 1100G is wearing a '79 GS1000 head along with 29mm smoothbore carbs...

The 1100 and 1000 heads are identical in combustion chamber volume/intake ports as well as valve sizes/parts with the major difference (besides the '83-up 1100 exhaust port shape)
between the 1000 and 1100 heads being that the 1100's use 12mm studs/nuts and the 1000's use 10mm studs/nuts.Comment
