Kerker header repack?

The 1100e I picked up last summer has a chrome Kerker header. Anyone have any experience or suggestions on repacking it?

I've had decent luck with steel wool a safety wire. Somewhat coarse works well.

Here is a youtube on repacking a Supertrapp. The Kerker is very similar, but I've also heard it is better to wrap the packing in with stainless wire rather than masking tape. I haven't done it myself yet. I plan to within the next few weeks though. If anyone has any other ideas, I'll be listening too.
