    Need to re-synch carbs after adjusting valves?

    Hi,
    I had 1 exhaust valve that was out of spec and so I put the next size smaller shim in. Bike seems to run fine but should I re-check the carb synch after doing this? I am thinking not but just want to make sure. Thanks!

      I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

          If its smooth on idle why mess?

              It can be smooth at idle and be off at mid to upper RPM bands..thats why.

                  Ride it. Listen for popping. feel for power loss or stammering that isnt like what would be considered "normal". Feel for hesitation in throttle response at different RPMS and gears. If theres nothing then ok. But then again the 15 minutes to just recheck isnt time or efforts wasted by any means.

                      It probably hasn't been done for a decade anyway. It only feels smooth because you are used to it.

                          Try it.

                          Note the difference, if any.

                          Evaluate whether it was worth it.

                          Decide whether you will bother with a carb sync next time you adjust the valves.
