85 GS1150 carb question

Are the 2 nipples on the airbox side of the GS1150 carbs, 1 on #1 & 1 on #3, just float bowl vents ? If not what are they ? In the manual it just shows the hose running over the top of the air filter box and ending as best I can tell. Sorry for all the questions, this bike was kind of a put it together kit

Are the 1150 carbs different or are you not numbering them correctly?

Carbs are numbered from left to right, as if you were sitting on the bike.

#1 is under your clutch hand, #4 is under your throttle hand.

Yes, the nipples (and the hoses that attach to them) on carbs 2 and 4 are, indeed, vents.

I was always told they numbered from left to right sitting on the bike. If youre right then its #2 & #4. Anyway thanks for verifying what I thought. Did you know that if you leave the float limiter off the needle & seat gas will flow out of one of them, I do. That's something you don't want to learn after the carbs are back on the bike. That's what old age back pain will do for you.

OK, those carbs are definitely set up a bit different than most other GS carbs.

Yes, those are indeed carbs 1 and 3, yes, they are still vent hoses, yes, they still do the same function.
