You can turn the early petcocks into manual ones. Takes a little work with a file, and a piece of inner tube rubber or similar. Pretty easy to do. I did a write up on here a few years ago...Comment

I looked on the Ebay store where I bought mine, and on Suzuki Parts House.com and holy cow! Almost 300 bucks for the one for the 78! Does it have a gold in it somewhere? In comparison, mine was "only" $65.00.

I rebuilt a Kawasaki petcock of the same design and it's working fine. Kawasaki sells all the various internal parts though, unlike Suzuki. Guess what I'm saying is that it may be worth a gamble to rebuild.Ed
