    1979/1980 GS850G Carbs?

Are the carbs on a 1979 GS850 Shaft drive the same as a 1980 GS850G?

Actually in Canadia they may have kept the VM carbs another year or two after we got rid of them.....

Mine(1980 GS850G) is actually from New Jersey. I have the opportunity to pick up a 79 for $400.

The 79 is not bad. It has a few quirks compared to other years (some parts were only available the one year...such as front brakes) but it was the only model with a kick starter

Thanks for the input everyone! I'm going to keep looking for a 1980 or newer for parts.
