    79 GS425 carb spacer

I have a 1979 GS425 that I'm putting back on the road. I removed the carbs to clean and repair them. The metal spacers between the carb holders and the head have a small restrictor baffle cast in them. One was at the top of the bore and one was at the bottom. (Previous owners repair attempts no doubt).
Which way do they go? My sense is they go down as they seem to have a cut thru so the fuel won't puddle in front of them.
    Thanking you in advance.

I believe they go down. I've got a 425 as well and ran into the same issue.

Here are a couple sort of relevant threads:

Fiche seems to roughly look like down as well.

Thanks for the info and links.
It seems the 425 is a bit less frisky with less intake "honk" compared to the 1977 400X (no baffle) I had in the spring but the electric starter and front disc are a nice touch.
