    Where to get a short length of fuel and vacuum line for carb rebuild? ('83 650GL)

    Hey guys, thanks for your help.

    The 1983 GS650GL project continues. All the carbs have been dipped and cleaned thoroughly, the o-rings ordered and received. I have new gaskets for the float bowls, calipers for measuring float bowl height, and a float-bowl needle to replace the stuck one.

    What I'm missing are fuel lines and vacuum lines. I can buy in 25' lengths and they aren't that expensive, but I only need a relatively short length. Is there anywhere I can buy short lengths?

    How do I measure/order new drain nuts for the construction of the apparatus to measure float height, as per the PDF?

    It's also getting to that time for vacuum syncing and I was wondering if I need to go to a place with a dyno for that, or get something like CarbTune or ....

    Finally, what kind of grease should I use for the o-rings? On hand I have motor oil, lithium grease, WD-40 and aluminum (non-seizing) grease.

      You can still buy the fuel line from any Suzuki online dealer, but I usually just go to any local Jap motorcycle dealer and pick it up by the foot.

      You can probably pick up a drain screw from one of the members here. I may have a few laying around mayself.

      No need to sync the carbs on any sort of dyno. The procedure is to raise the idle to around 2k RPM and perform the sync then. Have a fan blowing on the engine to keep it cool.

      I use silicone grease when I do my assemblies but really all you need is a small dab of oil.

              I buy fuel line by the foot at NAPA. To measure fuel level (not float height) you can get a straight piece of PVC fitting 1/4". The 1/4" is a shade larger and you can screw it into the hole in the bowl; might want to use some teflon tape as it will dribble just a tad. Connect your 1/4" fuel hose to the end and that is all there is to it. Only one bowl needs to have the PVC fitting and you can move that bowl from one carb to the next to check fuel level. If you can find any M6 bolts with .75 pitch, you can cut them off and use those to replace the drain screws but they are a bit hard to find.
